OCTOBER 2016 CRITICAL MASS in CHICAGO!

Who's Streets? Our Streets!

On the last Friday of every month the bikey types in Chicago all meet at Daley Plaza around 6pm to get wild and crazy and take over the roadways.

The Halloween Ride is especially wild, with people of all ages donning their wizard robes and ghoulish getups. Below are some snaps from the first half-hour of the ride, between downtown and the end of the South Loop. I estimate there were about 100,000 riders in attendance, but other sources claim it was more like 3 million.

Enjoy!

This guy on the Penny Farthing is a staple of Critical Mass in Chicago.

Best way to hide from the cops after you've stolen all the burgers? Join Critical Mass and try to blend in.

That thing on the front of that guys bike is the amp to the baddest bike speaker I've ever heard, which you can kinda see behind him. The thing was a total custom job with a cedar case and all manner of speaker types. It could shake your guts from 10 feet away. Surprised the dude didn't lose his lunch on the brown note.

This is where I peeled off. They all kept riding south.
The suckers in their cages, stuck in traffic on Lakeshore Drive. Hahaha–happy Halloween!
