This is why Tri-bikes aren't allowed to Group Ride!

When you host a group ride there will always come a time when you have to tell somebody they can't join you because they're on the wrong bike. I'm not talking about the guy who shows up on the fixie, or the mountain bike, or the BMX. You don't need to tell those people they can't ride because they'll weed themselves out, and if they don't that means they're made of tougher stuff than you or I and you best not get in their way.

However

Tri-bikes and time trial bikes have no place riding in a group. Yeah, you see the team time trial on the Grand Tours, but those riders have years of guided practice and are riding on a closed course. In the world of local Thursday night world championships a tri-bike is a human-guided spear. It just takes a little lapse in concentration while coming to a red light and SHUNK! You've impaled the lady in front of you.

This is a video off Fly6's website that show's a best-case-scenario of what happens when you're faced with a panic stop situation while in aerobars.
