Sponsorship Proposal Template

Since October is traditionally the time that a lot of businesses look at their books, it is also a great time to secure a sponsorship for next year's season. Below is a template of the cover page that my team would use when we sought out sponsors. Feel free to copy/paste it.

Sponsorship Proposal

Hello, I’m ______(name)____, manager and category _#_ rider on one of the highest ranked road bike racing teams in the state, Team ______________. For the last four years we have been recruiting the best young talent for a _#(number)_person team that spans all USA Cycling road categories under the guidance of our coach: ____________. With more high profile podium finishes in the state than any other team, we have a lot to offer a prospective sponsor wanting to get its name out in the growing Midwestern market.

Who we reach:
“Cycling is the new golf”  - a phrase coined by investment bankers and adopted by such media outlets as the New York Times, the Boston Globe, and Time. Cycling appeals to the educated, the affluent, the up-and-coming, the stylish, families and retirees, people who get out, people who work hard and play hard. Races and group rides last between one and four hours, so there are lots of opportunities to communicate brand identity with a valuable target audience.

Who we are:
We are a group of __#__ semi-pro and __#___ amateur mens racers plus a coach and mechanic. We are dedicated to bike racing and the promotion of cycling in all its forms.

What we do:
We eat, sleep, breathe and ride bikes. Each member of the team guarantees our sponsor 12 road races per year, though we typically race over 20 across the Midwest. We are active in our community and take pride in sponsoring, promoting, and coordinating multiple sanctioned races as well as local rides and volunteer work. Additionally we race cyclocross, triathlons, and MTB time trials whenever we get the opportunity.

What we can offer:
As one of the most successful teams in the state, we are among of the most noticed moving billboards in the local peloton. People will see the ________ jersey on the podium and think: that’s a company that understands my interests. Post-race we actively thank our sponsors and offer samples or resources to potential clients/customers whenever available. Additionally, each team member spends around 10 daylight hours a week on the road wearing the team jersey for motorists, pedestrians, and other cyclists to see- a guarantee of 110 hours of high-profile, mobile, and interactive advertising per week.

And finally, Sponsorship Benefits:
A title sponsorship puts your brand name on all our jerseys, twitter feed, blog, and all official coverage from media and the governing body, USA Cycling. Your sponsorship will be supplemented by our equipment sponsors, ______(shop name)_____. You’ll find these partners beneficial to supporting your brand because as two of the oldest and most established shops in the region they have many connections to the cycling community and are integral in the organization of races and events as well as obtaining equipment at steep discounts.

Thank you for reading about our team. Included is a results sheet and other information about our team that you might find interesting. I look forward to speaking with you soon and would love the opportunity to introduce you to our team, perhaps go on a ride too.  I’m available through Email or phone.

Thanks again!
