Ragbrai

Here are some Rabrai pics.
What to say about it...worlds biggest ride....bikes everywhere...friendly Iowans sitting in lawn chairs...crazy idiots who decided to endanger thousands of people by driving the wrong way on the designated Ragbrai road. There was some other stuff too. I saw fire jugglers, a giant unicycle, some fixed gears (This year was really hilly), and a billy goat that attacked people. I got kicked out of a beer tent because I looked too young and the bouncer was drunk and couldn't read my ID, then threatened to kill me. I did a wheelie on a $6000 racing bike, then used it to jump speed bumps; and man did that thing fly! I slept no more than 6 hours a night. I rode 100 miles in one day, and when I got into town there was a guy giving blatantly wrong directions, trying to lure people down a dirt rode. I saw a duck herder (see my last blog entry). In Ames we were greated by the worlds biggest Myspace star (Leslie and the Lyes). I got drunk off of one beer. I nearly froze to death because I didn't have a sleeping bag, or pillow for that matter. I'm glad I was in good shape and trained a little before hand. I talked to every hip person under the age of 30, all 15 of them. I pulled a draft line; I got a flat while riding in the middle of a two person wide, thirty person long draft line going 25 miles per hour. I ate nothing healthy and pooped in a field. I got separated from my group and lost every day, practically every hour. My buddy got engaged. And my metabolism was such that for a week afterwards I was eating 4 meals a day.
I'll probably do it next year if I'm around Iowa again.
